The 2024 Grammy Awards promises to be a landmark event, as the Academy introduces three fresh categories: the Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording.
For the first time in Grammys history, the 66th edition will showcase the award for Best African Music Performance live on stage.
In a report from Chart Data, a total of 122 tracks were submitted for the Best African Music Performance category. An article in Billboard, published after the introduction of the new African category, highlighted top contenders for nomination, including Adekunle Gold’s ‘Party No Dey Stop,’ Davido’s ‘Unavailable,’ and Asake’s ‘2:30.’
