Erik Ten Hag Explains His Decision to Drop Maguire and Ronaldo Against Liverpool

The manager of Manchester United, Erik Ten Hag has explained his reasons for dropping Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Dutchman was speaking after his team defeated Liverpool at Old Trafford on Monday, August 22nd, 2022. According to Ten Hag, both players have a future at the club because they are in his plans.

It was difficult [dropping Maguire & Ronaldo], but I have decisions to make. I have a squad, and we have to use this squad. We play 50-60 games, so game to game we will see what team we have to pick. Harry Maguire and Ronaldo are amazing players and they will play a role in the future as well, in the short future as well.

The victory against Liverpool was the Red Devils first victory over Liverpool for the first time in the Premier League in 13 attempts. Manchester United have just three-points this season after losing to both Brentford and Brighton.
