Nigerian Entertainment News: Verydarkman Speaks Out After Losing Activism Award to Chess Master Tunde Onakoya
Nigerian social advocate Martin Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has finally addressed the public following his loss in an award category at the recent Trendupp Awards held on July 7
Verydarkman (VDM) was nominated in the esteemed ‘Force of Social Good’ category, competing against prominent figures like Aproko Doctor, Kokun Foundation, and Tunde Onakoya.
Despite high hopes and fervent support from his followers, VDM did not secure the coveted award. Tunde Onakoya, recognized for his groundbreaking Chess in the Slum initiative and his recent Guinness World Record of 58 hours of continuous chess, was declared the winner.
The aftermath has sparked significant reactions.
Outraged VDM supporters have claimed that he was unjustly denied the award.
Meanwhile, his detractors quickly took the chance to ridicule him following his loss.
In response, Verydarkman released a bold video, exuding a sense of indifference about the entire situation.
He emphasized that his relentless battle against injustice on social media is fueled solely by passion and a dedication to making a difference, rather than a desire for recognition from any award entities.
Verydarkman openly shared that he is too engrossed in his activism work to attend award ceremonies and mentioned that he was unaware of his nomination.
He recalled a past incident when he declined an award invitation from Silverbird, asserting his stance by refusing to accept when they did not agree to his demand for payment.
