Nigerian Entertainment News: Verydarkman Criticizes Nigerian Scammers Accused of Defrauding French Woman of ₦1.5 Billion
Nigerian social commentator and activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has reacted to a shocking incident where a 53-year-old French woman, Anne, was reportedly swindled out of her entire life savings—an estimated $850,000 (over ₦1.5 billion)
The elaborate scheme, which involved scammers impersonating Hollywood star Brad Pitt, has drawn widespread condemnation due to its cruel nature and complexity.
Anne shared that she was duped into believing she was in a romantic relationship with the 61-year-old actor.
The fraudsters allegedly used AI-generated images and fabricated stories, claiming that Pitt required emergency surgery for kidney cancer and that his financial assets had been frozen by Angelina Jolie.
Driven by sympathy and emotional manipulation, Anne transferred her savings to what she believed was an account to assist the actor, only to later discover the devastating truth.
Investigations have since implicated three Nigerians in orchestrating the scheme.
Verydarkman took to his official Facebook page to express outrage over the alleged involvement of Nigerian Yahoo boys in such a heartless act.
In a viral video, he fiercely criticized the scammers and the larger culture surrounding online fraud.
VDM also delved into the mindset of fraudsters, highlighting how ill-gotten wealth is often wasted on frivolous luxuries like extravagant lifestyles, flashy cars, and short-term indulgences, with no thought for their victims or their future.
Shifting the narrative to a more constructive angle, Verydarkman offered unsolicited financial advice to the offenders.
While condemning their actions, he encouraged them to rethink their approach and consider investing their illicit earnings into meaningful ventures.
He passionately argued that the stolen funds could be used for positive change—improving education, healthcare, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship, ultimately benefiting their communities and contributing to Nigeria’s development.
