Nigerian Entertainment News: UNILAG Student Overjoyed as Joeboy Grants Him N100k for Tuition
Renowned Nigerian artist Joseph Akinfenwa, popularly known as Joeboy, has generously contributed N100,000 to support a student’s education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG)
The grateful beneficiary, Anjola Olanipekun, expressed his deep appreciation on social media for the financial aid extended by the musician.
In light of the recent tuition hike at the University of Lagos, with fees ranging from N120,000 to N170,000, students had been voicing their concerns through protests, advocating for a reversal of the decision.
Joeboy, an alumnus of UNILAG, was moved by empathy for the current generation of students struggling with these increased costs.
He reflected on his own time at the university when tuition was a modest N20,000 and recognized the significant challenges that today’s students face with fees soaring to N100,000.
The “Alcohol” singer asked students to submit documentation of their payment slips in order to be eligible for his support fund, promising to assist as many students as possible.
Joeboy tweeted;
“Unilag school fees during my time was 20k, and a lot of people were still struggling to pay.
I can’t imagine how hard it is for students now that it’s over 100k. Please send me a DM with your payment slip if you need assistance. I’ll help as many people as I can.”
