Nigerian Entertainment News: RMD Urges Basketmouth to Seek Guidance from Film Industry Professionals
Veteran Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), has offered advice to comedian-turned-filmmaker, Basketmouth, as he transitions into the world of filmmaking
RMD encouraged Basketmouth to consult with established professionals in the industry as he prepares to release his debut film, A Ghetto Love Story.
In an Instagram post, RMD commended Basketmouth for his bold move but reminded him that filmmaking requires more than just raw talent.
He underscored the significance of gaining insight from seasoned filmmakers and advised Basketmouth to work alongside prominent industry figures such as Funke Akindele, Mo Abudu, AY Makun, and Kunle Afolayan.
RMD said:
“Congratulations on your new film ‘A Ghetto Love Story’. I say make I call you, hail you first and then give you advice. You know you are entering a place where people have already established. Hold ground.
“You fit press things for different places. This is not comedy. Do not do it anyhow. This na film.
“When you enter, go find people wey hold ground. People wey dey control the whole area. All of them like Funke Akindele, Mo Abudu, AY, Kunle Afolayan and other people wey dey do film well. Wey be oga. Call them.
“Tell them you want to know one or two things. Comedy with Buchi fit work, but that na after you don pay respect to people wey hold ground.”
