Nigerian Entertainment News: Rema Makes History as First African Artist to Earn Certification in Norway
Afrobeats sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has hit another groundbreaking milestone with his globally acclaimed song “Calm Down.”
The hit track, which features American superstar and actress Selena Gomez, continues to dominate international charts and recently crossed the 1 billion views mark on YouTube.
On Monday, December 16, Album Talks shared an update via X (formerly Twitter), revealing that “Calm Down” has officially been certified Platinum in Norway. This achievement makes Rema the first African artist to receive such recognition in the Scandinavian nation.
The announcement read: “Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ featuring Selena Gomez has been certified Platinum in Norway, marking a historic moment as Rema becomes the first African artist to achieve this feat.”
This accomplishment adds to Rema’s list of major achievements in 2024, which also includes headlining the debut Afro Jam festival in Japan.
Released on February 11, 2022, as part of his debut album “Raves and Roses,” “Calm Down” has continued to solidify Rema’s position as one of the most celebrated Afrobeats stars globally.
