Nigerian Entertainment News: Odumodublvck Reveals How Davido and Wizkid Boosted His Rise to Fame
Nigerian Entertainment News—Renowned Nigerian rapper and vocalist, Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has opened up about his journey to stardom in the music industry
During a recent conversation on the Afrobeats Podcast, he recounted how afrobeats icons Davido and Wizkid played key roles in propelling him into the spotlight.
The rap star revealed that at the start of his mainstream breakthrough, Wizkid was the first prominent musician to endorse his music.
He stated:
“David (Davido) is someone who helped me when he didn’t need to. So there’s no way I will say anything bad about him even if I have the chance to.”
Wizkid’s endorsement drew massive attention to Odumodublvck’s work, helping him transition from relative obscurity to widespread recognition. His hit single, “Declan Rice,” named after the English and Arsenal footballer, quickly gained traction.
Odumodublvck further disclosed that in the early days of his career, Davido stepped in to support him without any obligation, despite his status as a five-time Grammy nominee.
He expressed his gratitude, saying:
“David (Davido) is someone who assisted me when he didn’t have to. So even if I ever have the opportunity to speak negatively about him, I never will.”
Addressing speculations about being upset over not being featured on Wizkid’s latest album, Morayo, Odumodublvck dismissed the rumors, stating that it would be unreasonable to feel entitled to a spot on another artist’s project, especially someone who has significantly contributed to his growth.
The year 2023 was a defining moment for Odumodublvck, cementing his place as a leading figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry with multiple chart-topping songs.
His album EZIOKWU became a massive commercial success, solidifying its status as one of the most impactful Nigerian hip-hop projects of the digital era. Looking ahead, he has announced plans to drop a new album, Industry Machine, in 2025.
