Nigerian Entertainment News: “No more Big 3 there’s now a Big 4” Rema Hints He is on the Same Level As Burna Boy, Wizikid, Davido
Rema, the Nigerian singer also known as Divine Ikubor, has asserted his place alongside Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido in the realm of Nigerian Afrobeats
Addressing recent controversy sparked by his tweet, Rema dismissed critics who questioned his stature among the “Big 3” by proclaiming a new era of the “Big 4” in his latest track ‘Hehehe,’ released under Mavin Global Holdings.
Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido have long been hailed as the foremost figures in Nigerian music on a global scale, collectively dubbed the “Big 3.” However, Rema is adamant that his contributions warrant inclusion among these Afrobeats luminaries, now expanding the elite circle to a “Big 4.”
Rema spoke while addressing the backlash that trailed his controversial tweet;
“No more Big 3 there’s now a Big 4” in his new song ‘Hehehe,’ which was released via Mavin Global Holdings on Monday morning.
In related news, Burna Boy continues to break records in the music industry. His latest single “Higher” achieved a staggering 2.3 million streams on Spotify Nigeria in its debut week, surpassing the previous record held by Rema and Shallipopi’s “Benin Boys,” which garnered 2.1 million plays.
“Higher,” released on June 27, 2024, not only set records for African solo artists on Spotify but also highlights Burna Boy’s commitment to his roots. The music video, shot in Port Harcourt, pays homage to his hometown while supporting his charitable initiative, “Project PROTECT,” aimed at aiding underserved Nigerians in collaboration with The R.E.A.C.H.
