Nigerian Entertainment News: “I Won Through Hard Work, Not Sympathy” – Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina
The newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has firmly stated that her victory was earned through perseverance and not out of pity or sympathy votes
Adetshina had previously withdrawn from a beauty contest in South Africa in August 2024, following accusations of fraud and identity theft involving her mother.
Despite dealing with xenophobic hostility and rejection due to her Nigerian roots, Chidimma accepted an invitation to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria competition, where she ultimately emerged as the winner.
Addressing the backlash surrounding her win, Adetshina clarified during an interview with Arise News on Friday that her achievement was a direct result of her dedication and hard work.
“A lot of people felt like it was a pity win. I don’t think so. I feel like I really worked so hard, coming from the South Africa journey. We spent like 10 weeks, camp, going through the whole journey.
“It might have been a slight difference compared to everybody else, but if you have to look at the journey that we have all been through, I feel like I really had the same experience with other contestants,” she said.
