Nigerian Entertainment News: Evangelist Slams Veekee James Over Claim That God Directed Her in Designing Priscilla Ojo’s Wedding Gown

Prominent Nigerian evangelist, Benita Okeke, has taken issue with celebrity fashion stylist Veekee James, following the designer’s statement that divine guidance played a role in the creation of Priscilla Ojo’s wedding dress

Veekee James had earlier posted a behind-the-scenes clip detailing the creative journey behind the now-viral JP2025 bridal gown. In the video, she revealed that she prayed for heavenly direction and credited the Holy Spirit for steering her through the design process.

Her comments, however, drew sharp reactions from segments of the Christian faith community. Among the outspoken critics was Evangelist Benita Okeke, who shared her concerns via a video uploaded to Instagram.

In the clip, Okeke challenged the spiritual credibility of Veekee’s claims, arguing that the dress—which she described as revealing—does not reflect the values of modesty upheld by Christian doctrine.

“That gown lacked modesty,” she remarked. “Can we truly say the Holy Spirit would lead someone to create an outfit that goes against the principles of decency? Labeling such inspiration as divine is misleading.”

She reiterated that modest dressing is a core principle of Christian living and warned against justifying immodest trends with spiritual undertones. “God’s nature isn’t one that promotes exposed clothing—especially outfits you’d never wear to a place of worship,” she said.

Evangelist Okeke concluded by urging believers to discern the source of their creative ideas. “Not every thought or inspiration stems from God. As Christians, we must recognize when our own emotions or desires influence us,” she warned.
