Nigerian Entertainment News: Court Dismisses Bobrisky’s N1bn, N200m Lawsuits Against EFCC, NASS
A Federal High Court in Lagos has thrown out a lawsuit filed by Nigerian crossdresser Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, widely known as Bobrisky, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
Bobrisky had demanded N200 million in compensation for alleged mental distress and N1 billion from the National Assembly, claiming his right to a fair hearing had been violated.
He also sought an order to prevent the EFCC and the National Assembly from detaining or harassing him, as well as a guarantee that he would not be declared wanted.
The case was sparked by accusations from social media influencer Martins Otse, who, in a leaked audio clip, alleged that Bobrisky paid the EFCC N15 million to have money laundering charges against him dropped.
“Having evaluated the evidence placed before this Court by the Applicant, it is evident that the Applicant has failed to provide credible evidence to justify the award of the declaratory and injunctive reliefs sought by him.
“I hold that the claims of violation of fundamental rights against the 1st and 2nd Respondents were not made out of the affidavit evidence placed before this Court.
“The Applicant’s claims against the 1st and 2nd Respondents lack merit and are accordingly dismissed,” the judge stated.
In his ruling, Justice Alexander Owoeye dismissed the suit, asserting that Bobrisky’s claims were baseless and lacked credible evidence.
The decision has triggered a wave of reactions on social media, with users sharing diverse opinions about the verdict.
Justice Owoeye further denied Bobrisky’s request for damages against the EFCC, concluding that the claims of rights violations were unproven.
EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale confirmed the court’s judgment in a statement released on Friday.
