Nigerian Entertainment Blog: ICPC and Police Absolve D’banj of Accusations, Affirming the Innocence of the Nigerian Singer in both the Alleged Fraud and Rape Incidents
The police and the anti-graft agency, in distinct exoneration reports, clear the ‘Fall-In-Love’ crooner of wrongdoing, as attested in an affidavit submitted by Toheeb Lawal of the Abuja-based law firm Law Corridor
The investigations into the rape accusation, initiated by the Inspector General of Police in 2020, concluded with no substantial evidence found to support the claims against D’banj, as per a report dated November 14, 2023.
The allegation was investigated, and the report partly read;
“The complainant, witnesses and suspects made their statement. Investigation was expanded across board but there was no prima-facie evidence, adduced facts or corroborative evidence to establish the offence of rape and sexual assault against the singer.”
Additionally, the ICPC dismissed the false accusation of diverting funds from the Federal Government’s N-Power Programme after an inquiry, stating there is no prima facie case of fraud against the singer.
The commission investigated issues of fraud in the administration of the N-POWER Scheme where Mr Daniel Oladapo Oyebanjo’s name came up. However, there was no prima facie case of fraud against him.
“Kindly be advised that Mr Daniel Oladapo Oyebanjo is not under investigation with the Commission for any fraud-related offence,” the statement partly read.
The lawyer, in a deposition, emphasized that D’banj was never a government official, had no access to government funds, and supported the N-power campaign voluntarily without monetary compensation.
