Netflix terminates Will Smith’s sequel to 2017 action film ‘Bright’ and National Geographic delays production on ‘Pole to Pole’ after infamous Chris Rock slap
The streaming site, Netflix has terminated the sequel to Smith’s 2017 action film ‘Bright’ after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars Award.
Will’s 2017 Netflix sci-fi action thriller ‘Bright’ directed by David Ayer, has been invalidated by the streaming giant, according to a reliable source from Bloomberg.
According to the news outlet, the veteran actor’s National Geographic nature series, ‘Pole to Pole’ which follows the star to the North and South Poles, and was fixed to commence filming in 3 weeks, has been halted until fall 2022.
The abrupt cancellation of ‘Bright’ is supposedly unconnected to the fresh controversy encompassing Smith, who made global headlines after his palm kissed Chris Rock’s cheek during prior month’s Academy Awards show
Extra projects Smith had lined up that have been getting smacked down, include a movie for Sony that has been postponed and another Netflix project, ‘Fast and Loose’.
In March, Smith smacked comedian/Academy Awards presenter, Chris Rock on stage after Chris made a joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
Chris Rock, 57, was presenting the Oscar for Best Documentary during the event at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood when he joked about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.
The actress has openly shared her alopecia struggles, and did not laugh at the joke when he compared her to the shaved head look of Demi Moore in the 1997 movie G.I. Jane.
Smith then moved toward the stage and slapped Rock hard right across the face with his right hand.
