Omo Anifowose Review!! Is Fireboy & Asake’s “Bandana” Good Enough Or Just Average?
Fireboy is currently gearing up for the release of his third album, “Playboy.”

The album, which many have been expecting for more than a year, will be one of the most anticipated projects of the year when it drops. It will definitely do numbers upon its release, no doubt about that.
Owing to the success of “Peru,” Fireboy is currently one of Nigeria’s biggest artists, especially in international markets. The hit which got an Ed Sheeran remix that blew it up has made it to the Billboard Hot 100 (still on the chart) and has racked in mad numbers for Fireboy.
For a while, at least until after the release of his album, Fireboy will have to live in the shadow of “Peru” because most of his other singles probably won’t reach the levels it hit.
His last single, “Playboy” is a good example. Here’s a good song, a follow-up to a mega Billboard hit, from a guy who is expected to release his album anytime from now. But everyone slept on that song.
The sure way to fix that situation, at least on the home front, was to feature his label mate and rave of the moment, Asake. It was a collaboration ordained from heaven. The linkup is insane without even hearing anything yet. The possibilities of what a song like that could be is what’s exciting.
“Bandana” ft. Asake
“Bandana” is a proper Fireboy song. A pop song that combines the lyrical ability of Fireboy with the electric performance of Asake.
The “Playboy” singer starts the song with a verse, the story of his come up, and then delivered a hook that led to Asake’s part of the jam.
Asake’s work on this one wasn’t very audible (quite literally too, because you can hardly hear him) and it’s very unlike him to take the backseat like he did on “Bandana.” Well, maybe that’s it, but the whole thing seems disconcerted.
“Bandana” sounds like that kind of song that would sound okay as a part of a Fireboy album like “Apollo” but will never become a real hit. It just doesn’t have the penetrating energy required to scatter the dance floors.
I’m sure Fireboy and Asake will have more chemistry than this if they collaborate on a song that actually has a playful vibe. It’s nobody’s fault that this song isn’t really a banger, but they both could have been better.
