*Former governorship aspirant and Convener of Unity Freedom Group (UFG) in the Lagos PDP, Eng. Adedeji Doherty, has warmed a frontline leader, Chief Olabode George, and the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide-Adediran a.k.a as Jandor against doing anything that can tear the Lagos PDP down before the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
This is against the backdrop of the announcement that Chief George will today be opening another office which he has designated as both a parallel state secretariat fo the Lagos PDP and campaign office of the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state.
In an e-statement issued Monday by the head of *DD Media Office*, Mr. Muka Popoola, Doherty says the outcome of the just concluded election in Ekiti State where PDP came a distant third calls for sober reflection for all loyal and committed leaders in the Lagos PDP to start thinking of how to work towards the unity of the party instead of doing things that can further divide the ranks of the members.
A former state chairmanship aspirant, Dr. Amos Fawole, had on Sunday issued a statement in the name of Chief George inviting people to the official opening of a new PDP secretariat/Jandor campaign office today in Ikeja.
Doherty said the decision of Chief George to open a parallel office when the party already had a state secretariat in the same precinct at Ikeja was in bad faith, designed only to make the party ungovernable for the recognised state leadership.
He recalled that Chief George had not hidden his contempt and disdain for the leadership of the party in the state since his preferred candidates lost out at the state congress late last year and has been doing everything to cripple the party by instigating members of his group to undermine the authorities of the State Executive Committee.
Doherty, a former state chairman of the party, also warned Jandor against submitting himself to any divisive plot that cannot unite members for his electioneering campaigns as the flagbearer of the party.
He said it was curious that Chief George would designate his parallel secretariat as the campaign office to Jandor when the candidate’s Liberty Place, which has been serving as his personal campaign office since he launched his aspiration for governorship, is just a walking distance in the same axis of Ikeja.
Doherty advised Jandor not to attend the so-called official opening of Chief George’s parallel secretariat to avoid sending a wrong signal to worried members that he is also encouraging things that can cause further division in the party.
Calling on well-meaning leaders and members to shun the invite, Doherty advised Jandor as the party’s flagbearer to see himself as a unifier and avoid anything that can further weaken the resolve of committed leaders and members to collectively fight the monstrous APC in the state long before the 2023 elections.
