American Entertainment News: Tyrese Gibson Detained After Failing to Pay $10,000 Monthly Child Support
Tyrese Gibson has been arrested for not fulfilling his court-ordered $10,000 monthly child support payments to his ex-wife, Samantha Lee
According to TMZ, Gibson, who shares a five-year-old daughter named Soraya with Lee, was found in contempt during a court session held Monday morning in Fulton County.
Judge Kevin Farmer expressed frustration over Gibson’s refusal to comply with the mandated payments, which were due to start in April 2023.
As per reports, Judge Farmer cited Gibson for contempt, and he was handcuffed by the bailiff and escorted out of the courtroom.
The judge offered Gibson an opportunity to settle the matter and avoid jail by paying $73,000, which included $7,500 for Samantha’s legal fees.
Following his temporary detention, the Fulton County Public Information Officer told The New York Post that Gibson was released after being held in contempt of court.
The Director of Communications for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that the actor is no longer in custody.
Gibson and Lee, who married in 2017, welcomed their daughter Soraya a year later, but the couple announced their separation in 2020.
Tyrese was previously married to Norma Gibson, with whom he shares a 17-year-old daughter, Shayla Somer Gibson. They divorced in 2009.
