American Entertainment News: Nicki Minaj Detained by Dutch Authorities for Alleged Drug Possession
Renowned singer Nicki Minaj was taken into custody by law enforcement at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport for allegedly possessing illegal drugs, according to a statement from a spokesperson for the Netherlands border police
Robert Kapel, a representative of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, confirmed the arrest of a 41-year-old American national after prohibited substances were found during a search.
Although Nicki Minaj was not directly named, she streamed the incident live on Instagram, showing the Amsterdam police attempting to detain her.
In the live video, Nicki Minaj claimed that the pre-rolled joints found in her possession were not hers.
Initially, she refused to cooperate with the police and requested a lawyer but ultimately complied and entered a police vehicle.
During the transport, Minaj expressed concern about missing her next performance, which was scheduled for Saturday night in Manchester, England, as part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour.
The officer assured her that they would attempt to get her there as quickly as possible.
On Saturday, Minaj shared more details about the incident, stating that the police reported finding marijuana and required another team to weigh the pre-rolled joints.
She emphasized that her security team had already informed the police that the pre-rolls belonged to them, not her.
Minaj also mentioned that the pilot requested she remove her Instagram post about the incident.
