American Entertainment News: “Love You, Bro” – Zayn Malik’s Heartfelt Tribute to Liam Payne
Zayn Malik honored his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne during his concert in Leeds on Saturday night, displaying a sign that read, “Love you bro.”
The tribute, which has gone viral across social media platforms, also included Payne’s name and the years marking his birth and passing.
Malik’s tour, initially set to kick off in Edinburgh earlier this week, was delayed after two shows in the city were rescheduled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
This follows the singer’s earlier decision to postpone his U.S. tour, citing the “devastating loss” of Payne as the reason. Payne tragically passed away at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina last month.
Loved ones, including family, friends, and former bandmates, gathered to pay their respects at Payne’s funeral in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, on Wednesday. Attendees included Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Malik, as well as Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy and his ex-partner Cheryl, with whom he shares a son.
At the O2 Academy in Leeds, Malik performed a collection of his popular tracks, including Pillowtalk and My Woman.Fans had anticipated a tribute to Payne, which Malik delivered at the end of the show, pairing his message with a pink heart.
This tribute comes shortly after Malik rescheduled his Edinburgh performances. According to an Instagram story, his show originally planned for November 20 at the O2 Academy Edinburgh was moved to December 8, with another date on November 21 rescheduled to December 9. Malik assured fans that all original tickets would remain valid.
Malik also postponed the U.S. leg of his Stairway to the Sky Tour in October, explaining to fans: “Given the devastating loss this week, I’ve decided to reschedule the U.S. dates.” The tour, initially slated to begin in San Francisco, included stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and New York. Malik later confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the rescheduled shows would take place in January, with previously purchased tickets remaining valid.
“Love you all and thank you for understanding,” he added.
Payne and Malik became global superstars as members of One Direction, a boyband formed on The X Factor in 2010, alongside Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. Malik departed the group in 2015 to pursue a solo career, and the band eventually disbanded in 2016.
Following Payne’s passing, his bandmates shared emotional tributes to their “brother,” remembering him as “an integral part” of the group.
Malik expressed his grief in a heartfelt post, saying, “I loved and respected you deeply. The memories we shared will remain with me forever. There are no words to truly describe how I feel—beyond devastated.”
“I hope you’ve found peace wherever you are, and I hope you know how deeply loved you were,” he added.
This story has captured significant attention in American Entertainment News, reflecting the impact of Payne’s life and the bond shared by the members of One Direction.
